NFL Viewing Guide

From the opening kickoff to the Super Bowl, watching your team should not mean guessing which subscription you need. Mytvapp explains NFL viewing in the United States, including local broadcasts, out-of-market games, mobile access, and television restrictions.

NFL+ provides live local and primetime games on phones and tablets. NFL Sunday Ticket covers eligible out-of-market Sunday afternoon games during the regular season. These are separate products with different coverage.

Mytvapp is an independent information website. Live broadcasts and subscriptions are provided by the services discussed below.

What NFL+ Includes

NFL+ combines mobile live-game coverage with NFL Network, live game audio, and on-demand programming.

The standard plan includes live local and primetime regular-season and postseason games on supported phones and tablets.

NFL+ Premium adds full-game replays, condensed replays, All-22 Coaches Film, NFL Pro, and NFL RedZone. The extra features do not remove the mobile restriction for those live games.

What NFL Sunday Ticket Includes

Sunday Ticket carries eligible Sunday afternoon regular-season games that are not shown on your local broadcasts.

It is intended for fans following teams outside their local market. For example, a fan living away from their favorite team may receive that team’s eligible Sunday afternoon matchup through Sunday Ticket.

Sunday Ticket does not include preseason games, postseason games, locally televised games, national games, or digital-exclusive broadcasts.

It is available as a YouTube TV add-on or through YouTube Primetime Channels. Buying it through YouTube does not require a YouTube TV subscription.

NFL Season Coverage Explained

Preseason Football

Preseason games take place before the regular season. Teams use these games to evaluate players and prepare their rosters.

Sunday Ticket does not include preseason coverage. Its regular-season package should not be treated as access to every stage of the football calendar.

Regular-Season Games

Regular-season coverage is divided between local broadcasts, national games, and streaming exclusives.

NFL+ serves mobile viewers watching local and primetime games. Sunday Ticket covers its eligible out-of-market Sunday afternoon matchups. One does not replace the other.

Primetime Football

Primetime games are separate from Sunday Ticket’s Sunday afternoon coverage.

NFL+ includes live primetime regular-season games on phones and tablets. Watching those broadcasts on a television requires access through the relevant broadcaster or viewing provider.

NFL Playoffs and the Super Bowl

Sunday Ticket does not include the postseason.

NFL+ includes live local and primetime postseason coverage on phones and tablets. Television access depends on the broadcaster carrying the game.

The Super Bowl concludes the postseason. A subscription covering regular-season Sunday afternoons should not be assumed to include the championship broadcast.

Watching NFL Games on Different Devices

An app working on your device does not mean every game inside it is available there.

DeviceWhat Matters
Phone or tabletNFL+ supports its live local and primetime game coverage here.
ComputerBrowser support and viewing rights depend on the provider.
Smart TV or streaming deviceNFL+ Premium replays work on supported connected devices; mobile-only live games remain restricted.
Casting setupNFL+ does not allow casting of its mobile-only live local and primetime games.

Upgrading to Premium does not turn a restricted mobile broadcast into a television broadcast.

Why Your NFL Game May Be Missing

A missing game usually involves coverage, location, account access, or a device restriction.

A local game may be absent from Sunday Ticket because your local broadcaster carries it. A postseason game is unavailable through that package because postseason coverage is excluded.

An NFL+ game that plays on your phone but not your TV may be working exactly as permitted. That is an access restriction, not a broken video player.

If the service asks you to pay again, sign into the account associated with your purchase before buying another subscription.

Fix Buffering and Audio Problems

The Picture Keeps Stopping

Lower the video quality, pause large downloads, and move closer to your Wi-Fi router. A wired connection can help on compatible television devices.

If other videos work normally but one game keeps stopping, the provider may be having trouble delivering that broadcast.

There Is No Sound

Unmute the player and raise the device volume. Check whether audio is going to Bluetooth headphones, an external speaker, or another output.

On a computer, a muted browser tab can also silence the game.
