From regular-season rivalries to the NBA Finals, basketball coverage changes with the matchup and your location. Mytvapp explains where US viewers can watch NBA games, how League Pass works, and why some broadcasts require separate access.
NBA League Pass covers eligible out-of-market games. Local team broadcasts and nationally televised games require their respective viewing providers. One subscription should not be treated as access to every live matchup. Mytvapp is an independent information website. We explain viewing options and playback problems; we do not host basketball streams.
Where Can You Watch NBA Games?
US basketball coverage is divided between local providers, NBA League Pass, and national broadcasters.
| Game Type | Viewing Option |
|---|---|
| Eligible games outside your local market | NBA League Pass |
| Your local team’s games | Its regional broadcaster or available in-market streaming subscription |
| Nationally broadcast games | ESPN, ABC, NBC, Peacock, or Prime Video |
| Peacock’s Monday-night NBA broadcasts | Peacock, with those games also presented on NBCSN |
| NBA Finals | ABC |
The service carrying a game depends on its broadcast rights. A local team subscription and a national streaming subscription can cover different games from the same team’s schedule.
What Does NBA League Pass Include?
League Pass gives US viewers access to eligible games outside their local television territory. It is particularly useful for following a team that is not local to where you live. Local and national blackout restrictions still apply. A game appearing in the schedule does not necessarily mean it is available live through your subscription. League Pass also provides replay access, including games that become available after their blackout waiting period.
Local Games vs. Out-of-Market Games
Your location determines which teams are considered local. A team playing in another city does not automatically make its game out of market for you.
For example, your local team’s away game can still fall under local broadcast restrictions. “Out of market” describes your viewing territory, not the arena hosting the game.
NBA Events and Season Coverage
Regular-Season Basketball
Regular-season games are split between local broadcasts and national coverage. League Pass provides eligible out-of-market games, while nationally televised matchups are carried by their designated broadcasters. This means a fan following one team may need different viewing options across the season.
NBA Play-In Tournament
Prime Video carries the NBA Play-In Tournament in the United States for the 2026–27 season.
The tournament determines the final playoff places. Its viewing arrangement is separate from ordinary out-of-market regular-season coverage.
NBA Playoffs and Conference Finals
The playoffs progress through elimination rounds to the conference championships. National broadcast rights determine where each series is shown.
US League Pass subscribers do not receive these games live through League Pass. Postseason replay access follows the NBA’s availability rules.
NBA Finals
ABC is the US television home of the NBA Finals. The series decides the championship between the Eastern and Western Conference winners. A League Pass subscription does not provide live NBA Finals access in the United States.
All-Star Weekend
All-Star Weekend brings together exhibition basketball and individual skills events. It is a separate part of the NBA calendar, with its own broadcast coverage. These events are not available live through US NBA League Pass.
WNBA and College Basketball
NBA, WNBA, and NCAA basketball are separate competitions. Access to NBA games does not automatically include women’s professional basketball or college games.
A service advertising basketball coverage may carry only particular leagues or tournaments.
Why Is an NBA Game Blacked Out?
A blackout means another provider holds exclusive live rights for that game in your location. It is an access restriction, not necessarily a technical fault.
For US League Pass viewers, the NBA lists these replay waiting periods:
| Broadcast Type | League Pass Replay Availability |
|---|---|
| A locally blacked-out game | Three days after the live broadcast ends |
| A nationally broadcast game | 6 a.m. Eastern Time the following day |
Device location can affect the restrictions applied to your account. Traveling may therefore change which local games are available.
Watch NBA Coverage on Phones, Computers and TVs
NBA viewing is supported across several device types, but compatibility depends on the provider, device model, and software.
| Device | How Viewing Works |
|---|---|
| iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet | Through a supported provider app |
| Windows or Mac computer | Through supported browser playback |
| Smart TV | Through an available, supported app |
| Streaming stick or box | Through the provider’s supported application |
| Casting device | Where the app, receiving device, and content permit casting |
Do You Need an APK?
You do not need an APK to read Mytvapp. NBA viewing takes place through the relevant broadcaster or streaming provider. An APK is an Android installation file. It is not a universal installer for iPhones, computers, or smart TVs.
Can You Watch Through a Browser?
NBA.com supports computer viewing on compatible browsers and systems. Other broadcasters provide their own browser or app access. A television having a web browser does not guarantee that it supports the same video player as a computer.
NBA Stream Not Working? Common Fixes
The Game Keeps Buffering
Buffering means the video player is waiting for more data. Reduce picture quality, pause large downloads, and improve the connection between your device and router. If several services buffer, the connection may be responsible. If only one broadcast struggles, the provider may be experiencing a delivery problem.
The Video Plays Without Sound
Unmute the player and raise the device volume. Make sure audio is not being sent to disconnected headphones or a different speaker. On a computer, a muted browser tab can also prevent sound.
Your Subscription Is Not Recognized
Sign into the account associated with the purchase. A second email address may open an account without the subscription you paid for. When the purchase was made through another platform, account linking or purchase restoration may be required.
The Game Shows a Blackout Message
A genuine blackout cannot be removed by improving your connection. Live access belongs to the local or national provider carrying that broadcast. If the location is being identified incorrectly, contact the provider’s support team. Incorrect location detection and a valid blackout are different problems.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Watch Live NBA Games on Mytvapp?
No. Mytvapp provides basketball viewing information and troubleshooting guidance. Live games are delivered by their respective broadcasters and streaming services.
Does League Pass Include Every NBA Game Live?
No. Local and nationally broadcast games are restricted for US League Pass viewers. Eligible out-of-market games are its main live offering.
Can I Watch the NBA Finals With League Pass?
Not live in the United States. ABC carries the Finals, while League Pass replay availability follows the NBA’s blackout rules.
Why Is My Team Unavailable Even When Playing Away?
Local restrictions follow the team’s television territory, not just the game’s venue. Your nearby team can remain blacked out when playing in another city.
Does NBA Coverage Include WNBA and NCAA Games?
Not automatically. These competitions have separate viewing arrangements and should not be assumed to come with an NBA subscription.
