From Opening Day to the World Series, following baseball means knowing which service carries your team’s games. Mytvapp explains MLB viewing in the United States, including MLB.TV, local broadcasts, national exclusives, and common playback problems.
MLB.TV primarily covers out-of-market regular-season games. Local team broadcasts and exclusive national games can require separate access. Following a nearby team and following a team across the country are different viewing needs. Mytvapp is an independent information website. We provide baseball viewing information; we do not host live streams or sell subscriptions.
Where Can You Watch MLB Games?
Baseball coverage is divided between local broadcasters, out-of-market packages, and national rights holders.
| What You Want to Watch | Relevant Viewing Option |
|---|---|
| Eligible regular-season games outside your local market | MLB.TV |
| Your local team | Its local broadcaster or an available in-market subscription |
| An exclusive national broadcast | The network or streaming service carrying that game |
| Selected Spring Training games | MLB.TV, subject to the available schedule |
| Recorded games | MLB.TV archives and on-demand coverage |
| Live radio commentary | The audio coverage included with MLB.TV |
A subscription can include one type of coverage without including the others. Radio commentary, a full-game replay, and a live television broadcast are separate viewing or listening formats.
What Does MLB.TV Include?
MLB.TV provides live out-of-market regular-season baseball, subject to blackout restrictions. It also includes archived games and additional baseball programming. MLB.TV is available through ESPN in the United States. Its listed features include home and away feeds for eligible games, on-demand coverage, and MLB Big Inning.
Additional content is available through the MLB app, including live radio broadcasts and Minor League Baseball. MLB Network access is currently provided through the MLB app.
Home and Away Broadcasts
Home and away feeds offer different commentary teams for the same matchup. When both are available, viewers can follow the broadcast associated with their preferred team. Changing the commentary feed does not change whether you have permission to watch the game.
Full-Game Replays
A replay lets you watch a recorded game after it has finished. It is useful when you miss the first pitch or cannot watch during the live broadcast. Replay access is separate from live access. A game being available later does not mean it was included live in your location.
Live Baseball Audio
MLB.TV includes access to live radio broadcasts through the MLB app. Audio coverage provides play-by-play commentary without the television picture. This can be useful when you want to follow a game while traveling or when watching video is inconvenient.
Local Baseball vs. Out-of-Market Games
Your viewing location determines whether local broadcast restrictions apply. MLB.TV’s out-of-market coverage is intended for eligible games outside your local television territory.
A fan living far from their favorite team may receive its games through MLB.TV, while a fan near that team may need local coverage. Local restrictions can apply to both home and away games. The stadium hosting the matchup does not determine your viewing market.
Why Is an MLB Game Blacked Out?
A blackout restricts a live broadcast because of local or exclusive viewing rights. It does not necessarily mean your subscription has expired.
For example, a team’s local broadcast territory may prevent its game from playing through an out-of-market package. A separate national agreement can also affect availability. An actual blackout cannot be removed by lowering video quality or restarting the player. Those steps address playback problems, not broadcast permissions.
Baseball Coverage Throughout the Season
Spring Training
Spring Training takes place before the regular season. Teams prepare their players, evaluate roster options, and build toward Opening Day. MLB.TV includes selected Spring Training games. “Selected” means the available coverage should not be treated as every exhibition matchup.
Regular Season
The regular season contains the day-to-day matchups that determine division standings and postseason qualification.
MLB.TV’s main live offering is eligible out-of-market regular-season baseball. Local broadcasts and exclusive games remain subject to their own access arrangements.
Postseason Baseball
Select US postseason games on MLB.TV require authentication through a participating television provider. An MLB.TV subscription alone does not guarantee complete live postseason access.
The 2026 Wild Card broadcasts on NBC/Peacock are unavailable live through MLB.TV.
World Series
The World Series decides the championship between the American League and National League winners.
FOX carries the 2026 World Series. Access to the championship should be distinguished from MLB.TV’s regular-season out-of-market coverage.
Watching Baseball on Different Devices
MLB.TV supports viewing on compatible computers, phones, tablets, and connected devices. The available app and playback features depend on the platform.
| Device | Viewing Method |
|---|---|
| Windows or Mac computer | Supported browser playback |
| Smartphone or tablet | A supported MLB or ESPN app, depending on your access |
| Smart TV | A compatible provider app |
| Streaming device | The supported app for that platform |
A smart TV having a browser does not automatically mean it supports the same video player as a computer. You do not need to install an APK to read Mytvapp. Playback takes place through the official viewing provider.
MLB Stream Not Working? Common Fixes
The Game Keeps Buffering
Buffering means the player is waiting for video data. Lower the picture quality, pause large downloads, and move closer to your Wi-Fi router. On compatible television devices, a wired connection can reduce interruptions caused by weak Wi-Fi. If other videos play normally but one game repeatedly stops, the provider may be having trouble delivering that broadcast.
There Is No Sound
Unmute the player and increase the device volume. Make sure audio is not being sent to Bluetooth headphones or another speaker. On a computer, also check whether the browser tab is muted.
Your Subscription Is Missing
Sign into the account associated with your purchase. A different email address may open an account that does not contain your subscription. Your receipt identifies the company that billed you. That provider handles the relevant purchase and billing support.
The Game Is Unavailable
Read the message before changing settings. A blackout, unsupported device, and subscription error need different responses. If the game has not started, the player may show a holding screen. If access is restricted, repeatedly refreshing the page will not add the missing entitlement.
